Richard Avery-Wright

Richard has over 35 years of commercial and investment experience. He began his career in 1985 on the floor of the London Stock Exchange acting as a trainee stockbroker.

For the following 22 years, Richard worked for a number of well-known financial services firms, including Man Group PLC and Old Mutual PLC in the UK and in Australia.

In 2007, Richard co-founded Pie Funds Management in New Zealand.

In 2012, Richard settled in Guernsey in the Channel Islands and established a venture capital business - 1818 Venture Capital - with a focus on investment in early and growth stage companies in financial services, FinTech, and digital technologies.

Richard has developed a philosophy of establishing close partnerships with the founders of each business he has an involvement in and aims to align financial success with positive societal outcomes to create value for all stakeholders.

Richard holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Cardiff. He is married with three children and enjoys skiing, cycling, rugby and athletics.
